How to Calculate Bolt Weight
The weight of a bolt depends on its volume and the density of the material it is made from. The general formula used is:
Weight = Volume (Area × Length) × Material Density
For a standard Hex Bolt, the volume calculation includes both the cylindrical shank and the hexagonal head. Our calculator simplifies this process by using standardized dimensional data for DIN and ASTM specifications.
Material Densities Used
- Carbon Steel: ~7.85 g/cm³
- Stainless Steel (304/316): ~8.00 g/cm³
